Get Emotional about Books
To end the week, we asked the teens to select a book and then select an emoji that expresses how they felt about the book. This was a very popular activity because they had the choice to show their face or not show their face.
Who am I? Guessing Game: |
For the game, all questions had a character's name as an answer. These characters could come from books, fairy tales, movies, or even television shows. For each correct answer, the teens won a sweet treat as a prize. This game was played on two days during the week, and on Thursday, we called it Two for Thursday. Students got a second chance to pull a question if they couldn't answer the first.
For the craft activity, the students were given instructions and materials to make a mini origami book. Supplies were easy and included origami paper in solids and prints and glue sticks.
Now Showing in Your Library:
This year's video showing was Twilight Zone's "100 Yards to the Rim" with Cliff Robertson. As a bonus we showed the German animated short called Cats and Dogs, too.
